Who is Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce mother Maxine Simpson?
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was born to Orane Fraser and Maxine Simpson in the inner city community of Waterhouse, in Kingston.
Her mother raised her and her two brothers, Andrew and Omar, as single parents. She, like her daughter, was a former athlete but never got an opportunity to pursue track after her teenage years.
She worked as a street vendor, however, she could not earn enough to sometimes even buy dinner. According to Fraser-Pryce,
“My mother is probably one of the biggest reasons why I’m running. Because she used to run and she stopped because she got pregnant with my big brother.”
Her gift for the sport began at a young age and started running barefoot in primary school.
