The Blue’s new signing, Raheem Sterling has demonstrated that he has moved on from his Manchester City days by refusing to wear the shirt of his former club.
The England striker has flown to the United States to meet up with his new teammates, having completed a deal worth up to £50 million to Chelsea.
He was the club’s first senior signing under Todd Boehly, but he has since been joined by Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Mason Mount, Sterling’s new teammate, has described the former Liverpool player as a top-class professional after playing with him at the international level. And, after a whirlwind trip across the Atlantic, the forward won over Chelsea fans.
Sterling was seen signing shirts held up to him by a group of fans in a viral video shared on social media. When he comes across a Manchester City jersey, however, he declines, appearing to say (no) before turning away.
Some Chelsea supporters enjoyed the video, while many others on social media dismissed suggestions that he should have signed the kit of the club where he spent seven years.
