Alica Schmidt suffered heartbreak in the 4x400m mixed relay at her first World Championships.
The German runner and her teammates finished fifth in the second heats and did not advance to the quarter-final.
Despite the early exit in Eugene, the 23-year-old Schmidt says she is still in good spirits.
She posted on Instagram: (We didn’t get the desired result in yesterday’s 4×4 mixed relay, and we know we’re capable of much more).
(But heads up and on to the next one! 4x400m relay on Saturday next week).
(However, I’m grateful to be here for my first World Championships and to have gained a lot of experience).
Schmidt has over three million Instagram followers and has been dubbed the world’s sexiest athlete. She has also been seen with other sports stars such as Manchester City’s new signing Erling Haaland and Neymar.
Schmidt has taken on modeling and TV work in addition to her thriving running career.
