After a convincing victory over Javier Fortuna, Ryan Garcia reiterated his ambition to challenge WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.
In Los Angeles, the highly anticipated Mexican-American, 23, knocked Dominican Fortuna to the ground in rounds four and five before stopping him early in round six.
Davis has won all 27 of his fights, while Garcia is 23-0.
“If he wants it, let’s get it,” Garcia told DAZN. “That’s going to give me the respect I deserve.”
After seeing Davis defeat Rolando Romero in June, he challenged the American to a fight in December.
“See y’all the end of the year,” Davis tweeted following the battle on Saturday.
Garcia used a left hook to the body that was akin to the one that halted Luke Campbell of the United Kingdom last year to knock Fortuna to the ground.
In the following round, he once more knocked out the 33-year-old, and at the Crpyto.com Arena, a left hook to the head put an end to the contest.
