The Iranian Football Federation (FFIRI) stated on Sunday that Dragan Skocic has been reinstated as coach less than a week after he was saved. The news had gone around that, the 53-year-old Skocic had lost his job just five months before the start of the World Cup in Qatar.
Dragan Skočić is a Croatian professional football manager and former player who is the manager of the Iran national team. Before his coaching career, Skočić started his playing career with the local club Rijeka and then abroad when he signed for Las Palmas in Spain.
He was born on September 3, 1968 (age 53 years), in Rijeka, Croatia.
Sonic was appointed in early February 2020 to replace Belgian Marc Wilmots, who left the team in December 2019, three matches into the second round of the Asian World Cup.
Skocic has guided Iran to first place in their group in both that stage and the final one. He might take Iran to their sixth World Cup. So far he has won 15 games out of 18 games.
