Nobusuke Kishi was a Japanese bureaucrat and politician who was Prime Minister of Japan from 1957 to 1960. He is the maternal grandfather of Shinzō Abe, twice prime minister from 2006 to 2007 and 2012 to 2020, who was shot while delivering an election campaign speech in the city of Nara. Kishi was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party.

Nobusuke Kishi illness: What disease did Nobusuke Kishi have?
As previously stated, Kishi died on August 7, 1987, at the age of 90, after a long illness. Unfortunately, the family of the late Kishi did not reveal the kind of illness that killed him to date.
The maternal grandfather of Abe and the prime minister of Japan from 1957 to 1960, escaped an attempted murder during his final days in office. He was attacked by a knife-wielding assailant when he left his residence to attend a welcome party for his successor. Kishi was stabbed six times in the thigh, resulting in profuse bleeding.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he received a total of 30 stitches to close his wounds. Kishi survived because the knife had missed major arteries. While Kishi could survive the assassination attempt, Abe couldn’t.
