David Haye, former British heavyweight champion believes Anthony Joshua might retire from boxing if he is unable to avenge his first loss against Oleksandr Usyk.
When the two clash in Saudi Arabia on August 20, Joshua will be looking to reclaim the belts he lost to Usyk late last year in September.
For the rematch, the Brit has teamed up with new trainer Robert Garcia, after parting company with veteran coach Robert McCracken following a poor game plan in his first encounter with Usyk.
Joshua will have the potential to become one of the rare three-time heavyweight champions in boxing history. It might also pave the way for a rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who says he is still retired from the sport.
Haye believes Joshua’s rematch with Usyk is a must-win for the 32-year-old, saying, (If he doesn’t win, I am not sure he wants to be in a sport where he knows he is not the greatest).
(He was outhustled by someone he is confident he can beat. If he performs everything correctly and Usyk still beats him, I’m not sure what else he can do. I’m not sure what he’ll accomplish next because he’s such a winner), he added.
