Flynn Downes, the ex-Swansea midfielder has recently disclosed he is in a fantasy world after joining his childhood club West Ham.
In a deal worth up to £12 million, the 23-year-old joins the Hammers on a five-year contract with the option of an additional year.
Apparently, Crystal Palace were the early favorite to sign the Englishman, who was purchased by the Swans from Ipswich last summer for about £1.5 million.
However, West Ham’s offer of £10 million-plus add-ons enticed the Brentwood-born midfielder to join his beloved Claret and Blue.
(It’s a bizarre feeling to have joined my boyhood club,) Downes added. I feel as though I’m in a dream.
(It’s been my desire since I was a child to be a part of this club – it’s an unbelievable honor). ( This is my club, therefore I couldn’t be happier. I’m delighted to be here. I’m excited to get started), he added.
With the exit of the club’s skipper Mark Noble in the summer, Downes adds depth to a midfield where he will provide back-up to starters Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
