After leaving his position as secretary for Northern Ireland, Brandon Lewis will be replaced by Shailesh Vara.
Shailesh Vara succeeds Brandon Lewis as NI Secretary
Mr. Lewis was one of the formerly devoted cabinet members who informed the prime minister on Wednesday that he had to resign from his position owing to a decline in support.
On Thursday, Mr. Johnson made his resignation known.
In time for the October Tory party conference, a new prime minister will be in office.
This summer will see a battle for the Conservative Party’s top job, but until then, Mr. Johnson will serve as prime minister, he declared.
Prior to resigning in November 2018 in opposition to the planned deal with the EU by the former prime minister Theresa May, Mr. Vara served as a minister in the Northern Ireland Office for five months.
He called it a “huge privilege” to be returning to the Northern Ireland Office.

According to reports, Mr. Vara will call political figures in Northern Ireland on Thursday.
In February 2020, Brandon Lewis was appointed Northern Ireland Secretary.
