In the summer of 2007, Isner began his professional career in earnest. With a world ranking of No. 839, he required a wildcard entrance into every single tournament’s main draw, even at the future level.
He won his first competition of the summer, the USA F14 Futures, defeating the top three seeds in the process. After losing in the first round of both a Challenger and an ATP event, he won the Lexington Challenger in July, defeating five top-300 players and three seeds to climb to No. 416 in only one month.
