Casper Ruud is a Norwegian professional tennis player. Ruud has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 5, achieved on 13 June 2022, making him the highest-ranked Norwegian tennis player in history. He has won eight ATP Tour singles titles, seven of which were on clay courts. The 23-year-old has quickly become one of the most reliable clay courters around at the moment, but despite all of that, few would have picked him to make the final at Roland Garros this year. Ruud navigated multiple tricky assignments on his way to the final. He first had to overcome French tennis legend Jo-Wilfried Tsonga – who was playing the final event of his career – in a supremely emotional encounter.
Is Casper Ruud from Nadal Academy?
Nadal simply dominated Ruud, 23, the first Norwegian player to make a Grand Slam final. Ruud grew up idolizing Nadal, and trained at Nadal’s academy in Spain; the pair have trained together and have a strong relationship. Ruud can’t help but remain in awe of him after Nadal’s performance.
