Lorde is a New Zealand singer-songwriter who rose to fame with her single Royals. Her music is primarily electropop with elements of dream pop and indie-electro.

Lorde was born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor on November 7, 1996, in Takapuna, New Zealand, a suburb of Auckland.
Her parents are Sonja Yelich and civil engineer Vic O’Connor. Her mother Sonja is a New Zealand poet whose works include AUP Poets 2, Clung, and Get Some.
Her parents after a 30-year-long relationship got engaged in June 2014. On May 6, 2017, they got married in a 2017 private ceremony in Cheltenham Beach.
She is the second out of four children and has three siblings. She has an older sister Jerry who was born in 1994, a younger sister India born in 1998, and a younger brother Angelo who was born in 2001.
She and her siblings were raised in Auckland’s North Shore suburbs of Devonport and Bayswater.
