He was the United States Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel in the Donald Trump administration.

Steve Engel met Susan Kearns in 2000 when they were both 29. At the time, they were both were law clerks for Judge Kozinski.

The following year, in 2001, they were clerks at the Supreme Court. Kearns worked for Associate Justice Antonin Scalia and Engel worked for Associate Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.

In 2004, they tied the knot.

Their wedding was held at the Larchmont Yacht Club. The main ceremony was officiated by Kearns’ uncle, Judge John G. Koeltl of the Federal District Court in Manhattan.

It seems that the couple has not had any children yet. Or if they have, the information is kept extremely private.
