She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and then relocated to Houston, Texas, where she began performing before relocating to Minneapolis, where she began her hip-hop music recording career.

She discovered her rapping prowess while in High School.
She continued her studies after high school at the University of Houston, where she studied classical music with an emphasis on the flute.
