Ballet dancer Regan Gascoigne and contestant on the Dancing on Ice show was born in 1996 to former England football player Paul Gascoigne and his ex-wife Sheryl Gascoigne.
Regan’s father, Paul Gascoigne, played professional football as an attacking midfielder. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest English footballers of all time.
With his dad being a very famous player back in the 1990s, Regan grew up in the spotlight but had a strained relationship with his dad. Their relationship was a well-documented one.
His father battled mental health issues and alcohol addiction, which resulted in him abandoning his family when Regan was just a baby.
Regan is reported to have said “If I could wish, I’d wish that he would go away from us. He’s probably going to die soon. Because he’s the top player doesn’t mean he’s a good dad or good person to be with, does it, really?” He made this statement when he appeared in a documentary aged 12.
However, their story has had a good turn in recent times. Both father and son have managed to fix their differences leading to a better relationship over the years.
His father recently granted an interview with The Sun and confirmed that he and his son have left the past behind and are like “mates” now.
