Jeremy Hunt’s political career in the UK has been marked by several key roles since he became a Member of Parliament in 2005. Known as one of the wealthiest politicians in the UK, Hunt has accumulated significant personal wealth through various business ventures.

Jeremy Richard Streynsham Hunt, born on November 1, 1966, in Surrey, has been a Conservative Party MP since 2005. Educated at Oxford University, Hunt graduated with a first-class honours degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, where he was also president of the Conservative Association.

After his studies, Hunt worked for a management consultancy firm before teaching English in Japan. Upon his return to the UK, he ventured into multiple business endeavors before transitioning into politics.

In addition to his political career, Hunt established a charity aimed at supporting HIV-positive children in Africa.

Hunt held various political positions before being appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer in October 2022. His roles included serving as Shadow Minister for Disabled People, Shadow Culture Secretary, Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, and Secretary of State for Health.

Although he briefly served as Foreign Secretary in 2018, he did not retain the position when Boris Johnson assumed office in 2019.

Married to Lucia Guo, Hunt has three children and oversees a real estate business with his wife. His reported net worth of approximately £14 million stems from selling the educational listings publisher Hotcourses, which he co-founded in 1991.

Additionally, Hunt owns seven apartments in Southampton, which he rents out.

As the current Chancellor of the Exchequer, following the sacking of Kwasi Kwarteng after just 38 days, Jeremy Hunt continues to navigate the political landscape amidst leadership changes, including Liz Truss’ resignation and Rishi Sunak’s appointment as Prime Minister.
