Three people have been detained by the Akatsi Police in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region on suspicion of killing a 31-year-old man at Wlitey-Agamakope.
Before the discovery, Christopher Alavi, the deceased, resided in Ziope. On September 7, 2023, he left home to attend a family meeting at Lume Ahugakope. After that, he vanished from sight.
The leading suspect, 41-year-old Simon Dorve, is a fetish priest who lives in the Wlitey-Gamakope suburb of Akatsi, according to Mr. Agbenyega Klaye, the regent of the area. This information was provided to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
He was taken aback by the purported deed, in which the accused had subsequently admitted to killing the victim and removing both of his legs and head for some sort of rite.
The arrest of Mr. Dorve and his two other GNA associates has been confirmed by a police source. The source disclosed that the deceased person’s disappearance was reported to the Akatsi Police.
According to the source, after more examination, two suspects—a student named Godfred and a fetish priest named Ahomey Gbeti—were taken into custody for allegedly possessing some of the deceased’s possessions.
“Ahomey Gbeti admitted to committing the crime with the primary suspect, under whose custody the deceased’s motorcycle and body were discovered, with some body parts buried, after being questioned,” the source stated.
To help with investigations, Mr. Dorve was subsequently taken into custody at Wlitey-Gamakope on Saturday morning, February 10.
The GNA was informed that on Monday, February 12, the Police would visit the locality where the crime was perpetrated to exhume the body that remained to take additional action.
The accused were remanded into Police custody after their Monday arraignment at the Akatsi Magistrate Court. They are scheduled to return on March 13.
This crime takes the number of similar events in the Municipality that occurred in less than a week to two. It was previously said that his kid was killed by another Dzuefe fetish priest.
