Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, the recently appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), had a courtesy call from Prempeh College Old Students, who also congratulated him on his promotion.
Prior to being appointed to this esteemed position by President Akufo-Addo in January 2024, the former Prempeh College graduate held the position of Chief of Army Staff for the Ghana Armed Forces.
Senior Benjamin Kweku Acolatse Esq., the Global President and Board Chairman of Prempeh College and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) overseeing Finance and Administration, led the Prempeh College Old Students.
Along with him were a few members of the 1981–1983 year group, commanded by Senior Eric Osei Afriyie, the branch president of Greater Accra, and Senior Kwaku Asamoah Addo.
The group visited the military headquarters on Thursday, February 8, 2024, among other reasons to congratulate their own for his accomplishment and wish him well in his new position, which they are confident he will fill with no hesitation because of the insight, love, and devotion to mother Ghana that his alma mater, Prempeh College, instilled in him.
During his speech, the Chief of Defence Staff conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Amanfo) fraternity, particularly to the 1981/1983 year group, for their unwavering support during both good and difficult times.
In recognition of his efforts to improve the reputation of Prempeh College and the Amanfo) fraternity, the Prempeh College Old Students Association awarded him a certificate of honor, an artistic portrait of himself created by students in the college’s visual arts department, and a plaque from the 1981/1983 year group in addition to the CDS.
