Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the minister of education, has expressed sympathy to the family of the student who died tragically as well as the administration of Aburi Girls Senior High School (SHS).

Dr. Adutwum described the situation as devastating in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, during a visit to the school last Friday.

He said that all of this is affecting his thoughts.

“I express my deepest condolences to Aburi Girls Senior High School and the family of the student who tragically passed away.

“This loss is truly heartbreaking, and my thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic event,” he wrote.

Following her complaint of stomach issues, first-year student Stacy Okyere unfortunately passed away on Sunday, February 4.

The school nurse allegedly accused Stacy of constantly pretending to be ill, leading to charges that she was denied medical assistance. This has led to criticism of the school officials.

In the meantime, inquiries into the events leading to Stacy’s demise have been launched by the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
