The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, proposed a flat rate tax on spare parts imports into the nation. The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has voiced its appreciation for this idea.
The Association applauded Dr. Bawumia’s imaginative proposal in a statement issued today, seeing it as a critical step in defending the interests of spare parts stores across the country.
The Association vowed to fully support Dr. Bawumia’s plan, as it is committed to the growth and improvement of the spare parts dealership industry.
The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia, made the announcement that the NPP would impose a flat rate tax on imports of spare parts during a presentation of his vision for the country on February 7, 2024, in Accra.
The Association stated that, provided the NPP wins the next elections, it would be happy to see this policy put into effect as soon as possible.
The cost of spare parts is anticipated to drop dramatically as a result of the planned flat rate tax, relieving commercial drivers and lessening the financial load on the general people who commute.
The Association emphasized how critical it was to support the flat rate tax’s implementation, arguing that it would support both the expansion and prosperity of the spare parts dealership sector and the overall state of the economy.
