Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, a former minister of youth and sports, passed away. On February 7, a Wednesday, the 63-year-old passed away. As of yet, the reason for death remains unknown.
From 2001 to 2016, Dr. Ahmed represented the Ayawaso North Constituency as a Member of Parliament (MP).
In March 2015, then-President John Dramani Mahama named him as the Minister of Youth and Sports, replacing Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga. But in a subsequent cabinet shift, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye took his place.
Dr. Ahmed gained notoriety last year when he was found guilty of contempt of court and given a seven-day prison sentence.
Judge Afia Serwaa Asare-Botwe found him guilty of trespassing on territory he was charged to avoid, and he was fined GH¢12.000.
