The Ghana Football Association has unveiled the process for selecting the next coach of the Black Stars and appointed a five-person search committee to assess candidates and submit recommendations for approval to the Executive Council.

This comes after Chris Hughton was fired on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from his position as Black Stars coach.

Mark Addo, the vice president of the Ghana Football Association, will preside over the search committee.

A lawyer and law lecturer named Ace Anan Ankomah (Esq.) has been named vice chairman of the committee tasked with finding the next Black Stars coach.

The GFA’s Director of Coaching Education, Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, football great Opoku Nti from Ghana, and William Caesar Kartey, Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, are also on the committee.

However, the following is a summary of the conditions that must be met to choose the future head coach:

The ideal applicant will have experience coaching either club football or the Top Men’s National Teams. They should also adhere to a football philosophy that is consistent with or enhanced by the organization’s core values.

The applicant must have more than 15 years of coaching experience in addition to the greatest football license in the world.

A track record of success in developing fresh talent, rebuilding teams, and organizing effectively is crucial. The perfect applicant should also have a track record of being a tactician, a disciplinarian, and a strong leader.
