Attorney Page Pate, who was frequently featured on CNN as a legal expert on topics such as Georgia’s investigation into possible election interference by former President Donald Trump, Florida Gov.
Ron DeSantis’ stripping Walt Disney World of its special district, and the Ghislaine Maxwell trial, died off the coast of Georgia on Sunday, according to his law firm Pate, Johnson & Church.
The well-known trial lawyer has lived in Georgia his whole life, alternating his time between Atlanta and St. Simons Island. Pate was washed out by a rip current off Gould’s Inlet beach, according to Glynn County Fire-Rescue acting Chief Vinnie DiCristofalo.
According to DiCristofalo, emergency workers got a report about “two swimmers in trouble” shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Pate and his kid were identified as swimmers by the acting chief.
Pate did not make it to the shore safely, unlike his kid. According to CNN, Pate was plucked from the ocean by a rescue boat and sent to a hospital, where he was declared dead.
He was 55.
