Rick and Morty draws over 1 million viewers in L+3

Rick and Morty, Adult Swim’s Emmy-winning animated sitcom, is off to a solid start with its Season 6 premiere.

Rick and Morty was the most popular comedy on US television in 2017, 2019, and 2021. According to Adult Swim, Rick and Morty has been seen over 10 billion times internationally across conventional, digital, and streaming platforms.

The premiere was likewise highly received overseas. Rick and Morty has been the most popular animated show on HBO Max in Europe since the platform’s inception. In addition, the series is one of the top ten best-performing programs on HBO Max in Europe in 2022.

Rick and Morty is about a psychopathic brilliant scientist who leads his naturally shy grandson on extremely perilous escapades around the cosmos. Rick Sanchez lives with his daughter Beth’s family, and he is continually involving her, his son-in-law Jerry, granddaughter Summer, and grandson Morty in cosmic adventures.

 

Justin Roiland, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer star in Rick and Morty. Dan Harmon and Roiland conceived the show, and they also act as executive producers.

The opening episode got over 1 million viewers in L+3, up 57% from its September 4 debut. Those figures are sure to rise as the Season 6 debut episode “Solaricks” is available for free on Adult Swim’s YouTube site until September 27.

Adults 18-24 were up 55% (90K), 18-34 +60% (335K), 18-49 +65% (713K), and 25-54 +65% (713K) in the inaugural episode (731K). According to Total Day ratings, the Rick and Morty première was the most viewed show on cable that day among young adults 18-24 and 18-34, and second only to House of the Dragon among adults 18-49.
