Tiara Mack is an American politician who represents District 6 in the Rhode Island Senate as a Democrat.

Mack took office on January 5, 2021, after defeating incumbent Harold Metts in the Democratic primary. Mack will be the first openly gay black person elected to the Rhode Island Senate in 2022.

Mack ran in the Democratic primary against incumbent state senator Harold Metts in the 2020 Rhode Island Senate elections. Mack’s campaign was successful in attracting younger, more socially liberal voters. Mack defeated Metts, receiving 60% of the vote.

Mack stated that she will not apologize for who she is or for fiercely leading her community with a new and fresh voice, which has enabled her to mobilize more citizens to stand up for their rights alongside her.

“I will not apologize for demonstrating to young, queer Black women that they can live a joyful life while still making a positive impact on their community, and I will not apologize for being able to do a headstand and, you know, having enough cake to twerk.”
