Carlos Augusto Santana born July 20, 1947, is a guitarist from the United States. Santana was born in the Mexican state of Jalisco, in the town of Autlán de Navarro.
He began playing the violin at the age of five and the guitar at the age of eight. Gábor Szabó’s jazz guitar work influenced Santana’s playing greatly.
An American man sexually abused him between the ages of 10 and 12.
With his band Santana, he rose to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked him 20th among the 100 greatest guitarists.
The legendary guitarist passed out whiles performing on stage to the chagrin of his ardent fans.
Reports floating in indicate that the 74-year-old was overwhelmed by heat exhaustion and dehydration causing him to slump.
Santana was immediately rushed to a medical center for treatment. The super star’s manager, Michael Vrionis quelled the anxiety of his teeming fans when he announced that he was doing well after treatment.
The tweet read: “Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well.”
