Ni Kuang cause of death: What happened to Ni Kuang?

Hed died in his sleep. He had been ill and had made few public appearances in recent years

Ni was born in Shanghai in 1935 and began working as a public security employee in Inner Mongolia under China’s Communist government at the age of 16.

He was discovered at the age of 22 removing a wooden bridge to use as fuel during a scarcity of heating coal and was sent to an isolated farm to perform correctional labor.

Ni escaped the farm after learning from a friend that he faced the death penalty, trekking through much of China before entering Hong Kong via Macau in a voyage that would become the basis for his debut book.

He went on to write a number of additional narrative sequences, including the popular Dr. Yuen series and a number of wuxia books, which were eventually adapted for television and film.
