Willy Joosen, a Longtime Calgary Flames organist since 1988, has passed away at age 66. In an interview that took place in 2019, Joosen discussed his first night on the job as the organist for the Flames, which took place on October 17, 1988. Willy Joosen, who was born in Holland, moved to Canada with his family after his father was appointed to play tuba and euphonium in the Calgary Symphony. Willy didn’t speak English because Joosen’s parents spoke Dutch exclusively in the house; “Kindergarten…it felt like I struck a wall.” I couldn’t understand anyone, and they couldn’t comprehend me.
