Reggae and Dancehall superstar, Stonebwoy Burniton has revealed why he fired gun shots during a fracas which occurred at the Champs Sports Bar at Kokomlemle in Accra.

The fracas reportedly developed when Lawrence Hanson Asiamah, better known as Bulldog, who is in charge of Artiste & Repertoire at Zylofon Media led some men to the Champs Bar in an attempt to retrieve a vehicle which is reported to have been given to Stonebwoy as part of his entitlements upon signing unto Zylofon Media last year. Bulldog’s attempt to retrieve the vehicle was said to be a furious reaction to the incident which occurred at the Hilla Limann Hall Week Artiste Night event at the University of Ghana. At the said event, Stonebwoy is alleged to have ordered Zylofon branded materials to be pulled down as a precondition for him to mount the stage to perform at the Hilla Limann Hall. The C.E.O of Burnition Music Group has however denied the allegation.

According to reports, Stonebwoy who was at the Champs Bar with his team for a gig expressed reluctance to give the Bulldog-led staff of Zylofon Media the keys to the car when they demanded for it, and he fired warning shots in the process. No casualties have however been reported in the aftermath of the incident.

In confirming that he indeed fired the gunshots at the said venue in an interview with King Lagazee on Hitz 103.9 FM, Stonebwoy revealed that it became a necessity for him to commit such an act in order to defend himself. When King Lagazee asked him whether he fired warning shots during the altercation on Saturday night, Stonebwoy replied; “Have you heard about self defence? He further justified his act by stating that Bulldog and his entourage took the law into their hands so defending himself became a necessity because Ghanaians need him alive.

Zylofon Media is yet to make an official release in response to the developments. However, C.E.O of the outlet, Nana Appiah Mensah has taken to Twitter to make an assurance of a resolution to this matter. He made this assurance when he tweeted the following:
