The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has recently disbursed an additional GH¢135.6 million to healthcare providers across the nation.
The purpose of this disbursement is to settle outstanding claims for February 2024 for higher-tier healthcare providers and March 2024 for most lower-tier facilities.
This payment aims to bridge the payment gap between higher and lower-tier facilities, ensuring that the only outstanding payments owed by the Authority are within the agreed three-month reimbursable period.
Prior to this latest disbursement, the NHIA had released GH¢300 million to mixed-tier health facilities nationwide. Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, the CEO of NHIA, emphasized the importance of healthcare providers in the success of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
He reiterated the Authority’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with healthcare facilities while actively preventing any illegal charges.
The NHIA’s ongoing efforts to support healthcare providers and ensure timely payments reflect their dedication to the effectiveness of the NHIS.
By addressing outstanding claims and maintaining strong relationships with facilities, the NHIA continues to prioritize the delivery of quality healthcare services to Ghanaians.
