Marjorie Taylor Greene: Why Rep refuses to vaccinate

American politician and businesswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has just dropped a bombshell about her vaccination status.

According to the far-right conspiracy theorist, who has served as the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district since 2021, she won’t take the Covid vaccine.

Why Marjorie Taylor Greene refuses to vaccinate

It’s simple – she doubts the efficacy of Covid-19 vaccines. On Tuesday, November 16, she disclosed that she had not been immunised against the virus.

During a phone town hall, the Georgia Republican uncovers: “I haven’t been making it public, but I started making it public because it’s such an issue. I’m not vaccinated.”

“I believe it’s up to every single American to make that choice on their own, and the government has no business to tell Americans that they should take the Covid vaccine or not,” she continues, as quoted by CNN.

Why is Marjorie Taylor Greene against Covid vaccination?

This is not the first time she is pushing this agenda. In August 2021, she took to Twitter, saying the US Food and Drug Administration “should not approve the covid vaccines”. She further claimed that the vaccines were “failing” and ineffective at reducing the virus’s spread.

Twitter suspended Greene’s account for a week following her misleading statement.

It is Twitter’s most-recent suspension against her for sharing misinformation.

In July 2021, Twitter suspended Greene for 12 hours for sharing misinformation about Covid-19 and vaccines.

Has Marjorie Taylor Greene been fined?

Yes. Greene received at least a $48,000 fine for 20 offences. What are her offences? She violated House rules by refusing to wear her face mask on the House floor. She appeals at least one of her fines, which comes from her salary, but it was upheld.
