Taking advantage of the media attention surrounding last week’s hearings about the events of January 6, Joe Biden criticized his predecessor, Donald Trump, for watching TV in his private dining room when little was being done to stop the siege on the Capitol that day.
The 187 minutes it took for Trump to order the crowd to disperse and go home were the main topic of discussion at the January 6th Committee hearing last week.
In a virtual speech to the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Biden, who is recuperating from COVID, said,
“On January 6th, we relied on law enforcement to safeguard our democracy. You witnessed the events. In front of our very eyes, the Capitol Police, the D.C. Metropolitan Police, and other law enforcement organizations were attacked and assaulted. brutally beaten, splashed, trampled, and scorched. Existences were gone. The defeated former president of the United States sat in the privacy of the Oval Office’s private dining room for three hours, watching it all unfold.
