Host of GHOne TV’s GH Today, Serwaa Amihere has come under intense attack on Twitter for asking whether the phenomena of betting on sports games by the Ghanaian youth has become a national crisis.
Serwaa Amihere tweeted this controversial question after a couple of UEFA Champions League games which took place on Tuesday, 17th September 2019 ended.
Let’s talk about betting among the youth; is it becoming a national crisis? #GHToday

Many Twitter users are of the view that the patronage of betting by the youth in Ghana is not a matter that should be subjected to the question of whether or not it has become a national crisis.
BBNZ Live rapper, Ko-Jo Cue criticized the GHOne TV journalist for relating the betting phenomena to a national crisis in her question. According to the rapper, there are more pertinent issues that should be of national concern than betting.
1. Corruption
2. Fraud
3. Lack of infrastructure
4. Human rights abuse
5. Drugs
6. Money Laundering
7. Sanitation
8. Banking
9. Educational System
10. Bad JournalismBut somehow we find a way to blame the youth when old people cause all these issues.
Betting no be crisis. https://t.co/yC3FOckRGo

Below are some other reactions to Serwaa’s question above:
Serwaa Amihere should know that people bet because it’s a legal way of making money just like any investment
Betting companies pay taxes so saying betting is causing economic crisis is lame
And not everyone bet because they are unemployed
