Five campaign promises fulfilled by Akufo-Addo in 2017

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo during the campaign prior to 2016 elections made several campaign promises that won the heart of Ghanaians.

These promises gave Ghanaians the hope which according to the NPP was lost because of the incompetence of the National Democratic Congress.

Although the year has been challenging, the President and his ingenious Ministers have managed to fulfill some of their numerous promises which are worth mentioning.

Let’s take a look at five Promises fulfilled by the President.

1. Free SHS

President Akufo-Addo’s topmost priority while coming to power was top provide Free SHS for the Ghanaian in order to provide Ghanaians access to Secondary Education. The President in the month of September fulfilled the most talked about policy and first-year Senior High School students who were admitted went to school for free.

2. National Digital Property Addressing system

One of the President’s campaigns promises he has fulfilled was the provision of the digital property addressing system. The President in November launched the addressing system which is known as the Ghana post GPS.

3. Improve Agriculture in the country

The President has fulfilled this promise by launching the planting for food and jobs policy. The programme will among other things encourage the youth to desist from migrating elsewhere in search of non-existent jobs.

4. Restore Nurses and Teacher trainee allowances

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has restored the allowances of Teacher and Nursing trainees in the country. An allowance that was canceled by the Maham led administration. The allowances were restored in September this year.

5. Establishment of a Zongo Development Fund.

The Zongo Development bill was passed to provide a fund for the development of Zongo communities. This is in fulfillment of the President’s promise to develop the Zongos during his tenure. Akufo-Addo’s government promised a seed fund of fifty million dollars for the fund which will help better the and seek the welfare of people in the Zongo communities.
