Current generation of singers are better than singers of previous generation – Root Eye

Root Eye

Kwame Nyarko
Offei known popularly as Root Eye is of the view that Ghana’s current
generation is blessed with more singers as compared to previous generations.

However, he
thinks the singers regardless of their talent should be guided and should have
writers who can provide them with thought provoking lyrics to sway patrons off
their art off their feet.
His comment
comes after industry player, George Britton showered praises on KIDI for being
the toast of many in the country currently.

He said “George,
this new crop of singers are greatly talented o. We’ve never had a time with
this good number of them. Kuami Eugene, KiDi, King Promise, Kurl Songs, Sena
Huks etc. Incredible singers. The little problem though, is that we need
writers for these singers. The lack of that puts pressure on the singers to
write on their own and that takes something away from the whole vibe. If the
singer is gifted with the skill to write then there’s no problem, however,
that’s not the case. The one i think can write deep apart from singing is Sena
Huks. At least I heard a song of his that I thought was great, lyrically. I
think Richie Mensah must be involved in the writing. We also have such fine
writers as Quophi Okyeame, Okyeame Kwame, Obrafour, Blakk Rasta, Sedem Ofori of
3FM and even Kojo Antwi himself and I know there are many unknown ones out
there too. The business is encouraging now so we can do that. At least we can
get them to edit the lyrics when the artistes have done the rough vocals. It’d
be a good start”.
