Ghanaian politician, actor and farmer, John Dumelo has joined the tall list of Ghanaian celebrities who own food brands.

He has now ventured into the food processing business and he is starting with organic ginger paste.

The “Men in Love” actor owns farms, but he is expanding his ventures. He said his new food brand will soon be on the market.

He is not the first Ghanaian celebrity to venture into food brands. A lot have already started that business.

Aside from dazzling on the TV screens, Delay is also a serious businesswoman. She is one of the very few celebrities who started venturing into the food processing business in Ghana. Delay is the brain and CEO behind Delay Mackerel, Sardines and Spaghetti.

2. Bismark The Joke (Bissy Bisap)

His brand might not be controversial and loud out there, but comedian Bismark the Joke is making good use of his brand. A few months ago, he launched a sobolo brand called Bissy Bisap. The sobolo brand recently organised a massive picnic at Legon Botanical Gardens in Accra where Ghanafuo.com was present to cover.

3. Reggie Rockstone (Rockz Waakye)

The pioneer of hiplife and his wife, Zilla Limann, have been running Rockz Waakye for years. The food brand attracts hundreds of customers daily and it is one of the most popular waakye brands in Ghana.

4. Victoria Lebene (Vicky’s Recipe)

The actress and wife of blogger Eugene Osarfo Nkansah (Nkonkonsa), has been serving Ghanaians some delicious jollof for the past five months. What’s special about her jollof? It’s fish jollof, which is not common.

5. Empress Pokuaa (Poks Celebrity Waakye)

The wife of rapper Kwaw Kese, who is legally known as Ann Kese, has been giving Reggie Rockstone a hot chase for his money. She runs Poks Celebrity Waakye – a celebrity brand waakye that does deliveries within Accra.

6. Shatta Michy (Chopius Foods)

When she broke up with Shatta Wale last year, Michy ventured into a food business in Kumasi. Chopius Foods serve jollof, braised rice, yam fries and delicious side orders. It is delivery based. However, for some time now, she has not been advertising it the same way she did a few months ago.

7. Tic Tac (Gennex Pizza)

If you’ve been wondering who is behind Gennex Pizza, then ask no more – because we have the answer. It belongs to the hiplife legend Tic Tac (who is now known as Tic). Gennex has branches in Kumasi and Accra.

8. Tracy Sarkcess (Sobolo)

The wife of Sarkodie isn’t only the brain behind Brave Connect. She is also the mastermind and CEO of Pisces Ideas, which is the producer of the popular Preyman Sobolo drink.

9. Akuapem Poloo (Sexy Poloo Pure Honey)

The controversial socialite is the brain behind the popularly honey brand, Sexy Poloo Pure Honey. She does deliveries in Accra by herself.

10. John Dumelo (Melo Foods)

The politician, actor and farmer is the latest on the list. He announced his ginger brand on Instagram on Saturday, November 6: “Adding value to ginger. Fresh from the farm. No preservatives. Melo Foods on the market soon.”
